Before You Meet
- Spend enough time communicating to make an informed decision — there's no required waiting period, but rushing gives you less to go on.
- Consider a video or voice call first if that feels right for the situation.
- Meet somewhere public and populated, at least the first time.
- Tell someone you trust where you're going and roughly when you expect to be back.
- Arrange your own transportation, both ways.
- Keep your phone charged.
- Hold off on sharing your home address until you actually know someone.
- Have your own way to leave if you need to.
During the Meeting
- Keep control of your own transportation.
- Stay aware of your surroundings.
- Keep your drinks in your possession.
- Be mindful of alcohol or anything else that could affect your judgment.
- Leave if you become uncomfortable — you don't need a reason.
You do not owe someone continued interaction because you agreed to meet.
If You Decide to Go Somewhere Private
Before anything happens, it's worth talking through:
- What you're each expecting from the time together
- Boundaries, and anything that's off the table
- Sexual health and contraception, where relevant
- Consent — established clearly before any sexual activity, not assumed
- Limits, safewords, or signals, if BDSM or kink activity is involved
Consent can change at any point, for either person, for any reason — see our Consent & Boundaries page.
After the Meeting
Let the person who knew your plans know you're safe. If anything about the interaction felt wrong, you can block the member from ever contacting you again, or report it to our team — see Blocking & Reporting.
None of this can guarantee your safety — no precaution can. It's about giving yourself more information and more control going in.
